Minister Félix Chero: “Pedro Castillo soon, I am sure, will be in the media”

The Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Felix Cheroassured that President Pedro Castillo will respond “soon” to the press, reiterating that there must be respect for his investiture and responsibility when reporting on the actions carried out by the Executive.

“I don’t want to be a fortune teller, but I’m telling you that the president will soon, I’m sure, go out to the media and give the information he has to give, because the president has never been out of tune with the press”declared this Saturday to TV Peru.

Félix Chero assured that Pedro Castillo has always had the will to testify as part of a democratic government that respects the rule of law.

However, he warned that there must be a balance and independence of powers, as well as “a lot of responsibility regarding how information is disseminated.”

“What cannot be allowed and we have shown the rapporteur (on press freedom of the IACHR) is how it is that, not all the media, I have a lot of empathy, but we must be responsible for how headlines that insult much the image of the President of the Republic”warned the official.

At another time, Chero reiterated that President Pedro Castillo is within his right to exercise his right to defense through the presentation of appeals such as the one that his lawyer has raised before the National Prosecutor’s Office requesting that the investigation by criminal organization be annulled. and other crimes that Pablo Sánchez is now carrying out.

“The defense has raised absolute nullity. It is legitimate, it is legal, it is procedurally viable because the Code of Criminal Procedure establishes this absolute nullity insofar as the fundamental rights of the President of the Republic are violated”he stated.
