Minister Delgado and arrival of Siches to the Interior: «When one works for Chile, one cannot define that as a meat grinder, on the contrary»

Hours after the new cabinet that will take office on March 11, together with President-elect Gabriel Boric, was announced, the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, explained that he communicated via WhatsApp with his successor, Izkia Siches, to congratulate her on her new position.

The Secretary of State affirmed that there is a formal meeting to review the transfer of the ministries, which will take place on February 21, but that he still hopes next week to have a telephone conversation with the former president of Colmed, to review his own issues from the portfolio.

But in addition, the Secretary of State distanced himself from the statements made by the former Minister of the Interior, DC Jorge Burgos, who in BiobioChile he stated that “the Ministry of the Interior is a meat grinder”. He added that “it is a very difficult ministry, full of responsibilities. Look, do the exercise of how long the interior ministers of the last two governments have lasted… I don’t think they spend the year on average, which shows how difficult it is has converted.”

When asked about it, Minister Delgado responded that “when one works for Chile, one cannot define that as a meat grinder, on the contrary, this is a privilegeIt is a position that really has to be taken with a lot of fortitude, but also with a lot of joy”.

“I hope and wish her the best,” added the head of the Interior, who also insisted that “this is a position that makes you grow as a person, professionally, and I believe that the concept of meat grinder, I don’t know… the most important thing is to have a logic to be able to manage problems that are related to people’s needs”.

The minister said he also hoped “that some State policies can be consolidated,” where he mentioned some such as the Arms Control Law and the Police Reform.

“We are available, we wish him the best, that he does very well. If it goes well for them, it goes well for Chileans,” he stressed.
