The Minister of Justice, louis cordero, said that the Government rejected a new request for pardon of a convicted person in the context of the social outbreak. In addition, he pointed out that the Executive will not reapply the benefit to these people.
“I have already solved that request. The applicant was notified on Friday and that request for pardon was rejected,” said Cordero in conversation with CNN Chile.

“The reason responds to the policy criteria that the President of the Republic indicated to me, the pardons associated with the outbreak had a context and a moment, that context and moment is not the one that is in force,” said the head of Justice.
“In addition to that, I conscientiously analyzed the rest of the background and there were none of the exceptional hypotheses that would allow a pardon to be granted outside of that policy criteria that the President defined for me,” he added.
Along these lines, he commented that “there is a policy criterion defined by the President of the Republic, which Minister Vallejo and Tohá had also transmitted at the time, in terms of not going to continue with the pardons.”
“I spoke with the President, in the end he defined a policy criterion, that criterion had to do with moments that were linked to the pardons of the outbreak and he left it to my evaluation if there were other antecedents that I could ponder as exceptional, there is no another antecedent that allows me to ponder in exceptional terms”, he said.
Let us remember that opposition senators submitted requests before the Constitutional Court (TC) to challenge seven pardons granted by the President gabriel boric. The TC rejected the resources last week.
