This morning, President Gabriel Boric held a meeting with representatives of the business world to address the situation of forest fires in the country.
At the meeting were the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Ricardo Mewes and Cristián Allendes, president of the National Society of Agriculture (SNA)., among other authorities.
In this regard, the Minister of the General Secretariat of Government, Camila Vallejo, indicated that the “private world can also play an important role” in the work associated with the catastrophe in the center-south zone.
“The private world, represented here in the business unions that accompany us, has been key in logistics, in managing the mobilization of machinery, especially heavy machinery, for firewalls, for cleaning measures, but we need much more,” the minister maintained.
“We know that fires, mainly in our country, are caused by human action, voluntary or involuntary, but at this moment we need unity in the fight against fire, in the protection of human lives, and that is the main message that the President of the Republic has asked us to broadcast,” he added.
He also stressed that “we have to be united and united. This is the time to fight the fire. Later, we will be able to draw conclusions, establish responsibilities,”
In turn, he declared that “since day 1 we have been coordinating with the private world to face, first of all, the fire, to be able to prevent, to be able to avoid more deaths in our country as a result of the catastrophe that the southern zone is experiencing of our country.”
“And in this sense, making an invitation, public-private collaboration is very necessary at this time, and we need solidarity, generosity and the collaboration of all,” he commented.
