The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency (Segpres), Ana Lya Uriarte, referred to the severe setback suffered by the Government after the rejection of the idea of legislating the tax reform project and the absence of the deputy Pamela Jiles in the vote , which he described as “opposition”.
in conversation with Radio Dunethe Secretary of State assured that Jiles had committed her vote in favor of the reform “face to face before Minister Marcel and myself. Inexplicably, the deputy withdrew from the Chamber the next day so as not to vote.”
Along the same lines, Uriarte pointed out that the Government of President Gabriel Boric will no longer have the vote of the parliamentarian as part of the ruling party, since “the issue of trust and commitments are very important in politics, because only once is believe and only once fail”.
“On the previous occasions that Deputy Jiles has voted against different types of government proposals, there has not been a commitment with us, therefore, we do not assign any responsibility to her because she did not compromise anything,” added the head of Segpres.
However, Uriarte clarified that on this occasion the parliamentarian “did make a commitment, we believed her and she did not comply. Therefore, there is a before and after regarding that trust, we no longer count on her vote as a definitive matter and we consider it rightly opposed to the projects of the Government”.
