MIAMI, United States.- The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) in Villa Clara corroborated this Saturday in an official note that police officers fatally shot a 17-year-old boy in Santa Clara, and although the report does not refer to the identity and the age of the victim thus confirms the death of the young Zidán Batista.
The MININT note said that a person unrelated to the incident was injured during the actions, and that the deceased, whom they called “main aggressor”, was characterized “by violent behavior, with multiple criminal records.”
According to the official version, the young man tried to “deprive the life” of an officer “against whom he pounced with a chalk knife in one hand and a machete in the other, injuring him in the forehead.”
“Given the imminent danger to the life of the officer, his companions used the regulatory weapon, in defense of his physical integrity,” they said.
“In the unfortunate incident, the main aggressor died, characterized by violent behavior, with multiple criminal records,” they added in the text, published on the Facebook page of the official Vanguardia newspaper, more than 24 hours after the incident.
The regime also explained that the person who was injured outside the altercation “received immediate medical assistance.”
“The competent authorities carry out a rigorous investigation to fully clarify the fact,” reads the MININT statement, which coincides with versions of profiles related to the government.
According to the MININT, on Friday afternoon the population would have called the police to intervene in the face of “an alteration of public order, in which the lives of two women who were inside a house, in the popular council of Condado, were in danger. South”.
