In the midst of the growing concern for the economy of the Mining Region of Cesar and La Guajira, this September 19 will take a march in the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico.
The mobilization seeks to reject Decree 0949 of 2025, issued on August 28, that prohibits the export of Colombian coal to Israel, a decision that, according to union and business leaders, has generated a negative impact on companies, workers and communities that depend on this activity.

Luis Alberto Piñérez, Legal Representative of the company Aseres and member of Voces del Carbon, explained that This measure has caused the cancellation of contracts, the decrease in investments and the dismissal of personnel.
“We are raising the voice because this decree directly affects the local economy. Only in Aseres we have had to suspend 30 direct jobs in the environmental area due to the closure of activities. We are not defending a company, we are defending thousands of families that depend on coal ”said Piñérez.
The union leader warned that The affectation already reaches 30% in direct and indirect jobs, while municipalities such as La Jagua de Ibirico and Loma have seen a decrease in their fiscal and private incomeaffecting sectors such as education, health and infrastructure.
“Coal is a legal source of development and there is no real economic alternative that replaces the more than 125,000 jobs that depend on this industry in Cesar, La Guajira and Magdalena,” he said.
