Labor unions propose an increase in the minimum wage of up to $200,000 but the discussion continues and it would not even exceed $100,000. This Thursday, decisive day.

The increase in the minimum wage for 2023 must be approved in 2022, therefore, this Thursday is a crucial day at the negotiation table in Bogotá between unions, unions and companies, the proposal goes from 13 to 15%, 20% already would have been ruled out.
The workers’ unions proposed an increase of 20%, pointing out that “food inflation is 27.08%, such as rice, potatoes, eggs, cleaning products, items for the home and restaurants and hotels”, and therefore the income of workers must be taller.
But the business sector between 13% to 15%, so that “it is feasible.”
If on December 15 there is no agreement between these parties, it will be the national government through decree, determining the percentage increase.
Although legally these dates would still remain:
- Decembre 19th: presentation of the written qualifications of the parties.
- December 22th: meeting of the consultation commission to study exceptions.
- December 30: Deadline for issuance of the 2023 minimum wage decree.
Approval is normally given before Christmas Day, among other things, due to administrative times so that it is duly sanctioned and enters into force with the start of the new year.
Salary goes up, expenses go up
The minimum wage for 2022 is 1,000,000, which is paid to just over 3 million employees In colombia. They also receive transportation assistance of $117,000.
But with the increase in salary, the costs of services, goods and products of the basic family basket also increase.

- With inflation, residential rental prices will increase, for contracts that have already been signed for one year.
