National minimum wage will increase 7.5% in 2026 and will reach $25,383 in July
After a meeting of the Tripartite Superior Council, the national director of Labor, Marcela Barrios, announced that as of January 1, the minimum wage will increase 4.1%. In July it will increase again by 3.3%. “The increase represents a qualitative leap in the purchasing power of the most submerged salaries,” he pointed out.
Barrios reported that the annual increase in the national minimum wage will be 7.54% and will be granted twice: in January and July. The leader assured that the decision conforms to the work team, since it contemplates an increase greater than those granted in the first band (6%) and meets the objective of continuing to increase the minimum wage.
On January 1, the increase will be 4.1%, so the minimum wage will reach 24,572 pesos. In July, an increase of 3.3% will be granted, which will total 25,383 pesos.
Barrios highlighted this increase in a context of controlled inflation, projected at around 4%, which he considered “a qualitative leap in the purchasing power of the most submerged salaries«.
COLLECTIVE NEGOTIATION
Regarding the Salary Councils, he reported that around 60% of the tables reached an agreement.
Likewise, he reported that the Tripartite Superior Council agreed to appeal to negotiation while there is room and to try to avoid direct intervention by the Executive Branch.
He also reported that December 31 will not be considered as a deadline, except in those sectors in which negotiations have been exhausted.
AGENDA 2026
In its objectives for next year, the portfolio proposed regulating regulations of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Barrios reported.
In this sense, he mentioned agreements 158, 153 and 190, which refer to the termination of the employment relationship, the duration of work in road transport and the elimination of violence and harassment in workplaces.
“In principle, we do not have deadlines, because we are committed to giving time to the negotiation, but we have defined our agenda and have a clear horizon of where we want to move forward,” said.
