At the height of her disapproval, President Dina Boluarte will announce this Friday the increase in the minimum vital remuneration (RMV). The increase will be S/ 105.
With this increase, the minimum salary stands at S/ 1,130. Previously, in April 2022, the RMV increased by S/ 95 and stood at S/ 1,025.
Through a statement, the Presidency of the Republic reported that the ceremony will take place in the Túpac Amaru Room of the Government Palace, at 10:00 am. Likewise, it specified that the increase in the minimum wage will come into force as of January 1, 2025.
As recalled, days before the Minister of Economy, José Arista, and the Minister of Labor, Daniel Maurate, assured that the announcement of the increase in the minimum living wage would occur before the end of the year.
The announcement comes in a context of low approval (4%) of President Dina Boluarte. According to Ipsos, 62% of Peruvians perceive the president as the most negative public figure of the year.
According to the Central Reserve Bank, 11 of 13 increases registered between 2002 and 2023 were in contexts of low presidential popularity or electoral campaign.
