With 1,829 people hospitalized for covid-19, the country has the lowest level of hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic. In the three previous waves of infections, the minimum was 1,961 and only one day, on December 25, 2021.
That number was recorded just a few days before transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus rose again in the fourth wave, but this time at high speed, which thanks to factors such as vaccination coverage had less of an impact on hospitalizations. .
On the contrary, from December 2020 to February 2021 (second wave) the highest rates of hospital admissions were reported. The maximum was 23,714 people on January 23, 2021. When transmission decreased, hospitalizations reached their lowest point in the first days of June with about 2,400 patients occupying a bed.
For the third wave of infections, between May and October 2021, the demand for spaces rose again but to a lesser extent. The highest level was recorded in mid-August with about 13,000 beds.
Then came the decline that remained stable during November and December, with an average hospitalization of 2,000 occupied beds nationwide.
The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported that, in terms of the percentage of occupancy in general beds, 14 states were above the national average of 13 percent yesterday. Aguascalientes stand out with 44, Nuevo León 40 and Colima 32 percent.
Below the average were 18 entities. The cases of Yucatán, Campeche and Quintana Roo stand out here with 3 percent each.
