The Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, assured that the portfolio is following a four-step plan to increase the life index of oil and gas reservesor without the need to grant new contracts for this purpose.

According to what was presented by the leader, there are four axes on which they are focusing the strategy. The first of them in relation to unify the numbers of contracts that have been awarded. The second regarding reporting the “bottlenecks” presented by the contracts to move on to a third step related to establishing a roadmap and finally “identifying the contracts in the preliminary phase that need support to move forward.”
It should be remembered that in recent days Vélez had assured that there would be 35 suspended contracts on which they would try to resume the processes to add their reserves. He now he explained that of these 32 have already shown positive results in terms of findings.

Some of the companies that have these contracts are Ecopetrol, Gran Tierra Energy, Parex, Amerisur or Sierra Col, among others.
The Government has indicated that, despite this, it is carrying out an analysis to establish whether or not new contracts are required in order to maintain the security and energy autonomy of the country.
