The Dominican Gregores Méndez Torres who lasted 10 days trapped in a tunnel of the Cerro de Maimón mine, Monseñor Nouel, will continue working in the place, however, first he will take a sabbatical to rest and reflect.
The information was confirmed today by his sister Harlim Méndez, who said, by telephone, that this job is his family support.
Méndez Torres, 28, and Colombian Yépez Ospina, 38, were discharged yesterday, after spending 72 hours in the Ramón de Lara Military Teaching Hospital, at the San Isidro Air Base.
To receive the miners, the senator of the province Monsignor Nouel and merengue player, Héctor Acosta, has scheduled a concert for tomorrow, Saturday, to celebrate the rescue of Méndez Torres and Carlos Yépez Ospina.

Early on Sunday, July 31, life changed for the two miners, when a landslide occurred while they were working in a mining tunnel dedicated to the extraction of zinc and copper. For them, they commented, these were difficult times, especially the first days, but faith in God gave them strength.
Bailing out
On Tuesday, August 9, at 11:16 in the morning, both men were rescued from said mine, where President Luis Abinader went to receive them. Some 70 experts in underground mining and another 40 technicians from different national and international areas participated in the action. A tunnel boring machine from Canada was used.
