Minenergía asks five executives of entities in the energy sector to resign

He Ministry of Mines and Energy requested the protocol resignation at the management level of five entities linked to the energy sector, among them, the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (Creg)the National Hydrocarbon Agency (ANH)the National Mining Agency (ANM)he Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions for Non-Interconnected Areas (Ipse) and the Colombian Geological Service (SGC)according to the Investigative Unit of EL TIEMPO.

The measure occurs in a context of concern over the execution of the country’s energy businesses, including a strategic vision that involves business with Venezuela, according to officials cited by said newspaper. Despite being ‘protocol resignations’, these instances are usually understood as institutional adjustment maneuvers that anticipate changes in orientation.

Although attention has focused on the departure of Luis Eduardo Llinás de la Dian and the Financial Information and Analysis Unit (Uiaf)EL TIEMPO established that the instruction was sent from the Minas portfolio to ask for resignations in ANM, in the hands of Lina Franco; in the ANH, in the hands of Orlando Velandia; in the SGC, led by Julio Fierro and in the Mining-Energy Planning Unit (Upme)at the head of Manuel Pena Suarez.

According to High Government sources, “What is striking is that the heads of the Creg have fixed periods and there are only a couple of officials who could be moved“.

The reasons

According to what EL TIEMPO’s Investigative Unit consulted with sources in the portfolio, the decision, already with the approval of President Gustavo Petro, was made to “keep things flowing, especially the connection points. Venezuela has nothing to do with“.

Already in the case of the Creg, they mentioned that although the expert commissioners have fixed periods already established, this is not the same case as the advisors.
