It is worth noting that Camacho was summoned to defend his management in the portfolio, after some representatives (among them Juan Fernando Espinal, Marelen Castillo, Cristián Garcés, among others) pointed out that there has been a poor management in areas such as measures to lower prices energy and assume the tariff option.

In this stage, Camacho replied that “the structural problem” of the country and the rates has been the neoliberal model and “the privatization of public services in Colombia“. According to the Minister, this has led to the price of energy being above and some companies are “practically expropriating the pockets of Colombians“.

Camacho questioned the role of Congress when it was decided to sell the state stake in Isagen to Brookfield and “Energy sovereignty was handed over” of the country. Questions were also asked about the role played by congressmen when the attempt was made to sell Ecopetrol “And now they are tearing their clothes defending the hydrocarbon industry when they tried to privatize it”.

He assured that it is is demanding that they solve a problem that has been created for 30 years. He said that despite that they are taking actions that “have not existed in any other Government“, even “with the consequences that it has had“.

The Minister pointed directly at power generation companiesThat “has become a mechanism of expropriation for usersCamacho said that during this Government, actions have been taken to settle the accumulated debt of the tariff option, pointing out that the financial blackout that had been warned in the past did not occur.

Some of the actions that have been taken are related to the Control of energy prices on the stock exchangewhich according to Camacho is where “most of the energy“has been transacted in recent times, so that”product of fluctuations in energy prices“profits can be generated.

There are companies that They play with the market in two ways, the first without guaranteeing contracts to get the most out of it and the second is through a speculation that has been made to manipulate the price in a bag“Camacho said.

In this sense, he said that they are working on a model that generates Two price caps on energy on the stock exchange, by technology, so that the “the price of e-energy produced with renewables, gas and hydroelectric plants is regulated“.

He stated that This problem is due to privatizationwhich even “almost led to the privatization of the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (Creg)“, which this Government has come to “manage”.
