Minem signed 4 agreements with Bolivia in the Binational Cabinet for the massification of natural gas

The Minister of Energy and Mines, , signed four cooperation agreements with its Bolivian peers that will speed up the massification of natural gas, offer affordable prices for (LPG) to the population of the south, promote rural electrification in Puno and the formalization of mining in both countries

At the Presidential Meeting and the VI Meeting of the Binational Ministerial Cabinet of Peru-Bolivia Ministers, González Toro and the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia, Franklin Molina, signed the Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement for energy integration between both countries, emphasizing the natural gas industry.

In this sense, studies will be developed to determine the technical and economic feasibility of interconnecting the project to build a gas pipeline to the south with a possible pipeline from Bolivia.

In this way, the neighboring country will be able to develop a natural gas liquefaction plant in the port of Ilo to export it and supply the Peruvian market.

In this regard, González Toro highlighted that the agreement benefits the country with redundancy for the supply of gas for the Southern Energy Node, with a greater availability of that fuel, among others.

Similarly, the ministers signed the Inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement on the construction and operation of distribution networks of natural gas in Desaguadero and in other towns in southern Peru.

By virtue of the agreement, a project for the design, construction and operation of natural gas distribution networks will be developed in the border strips and other areas of Peru, which will speed up the massification of this fuel in that part of the country.

What other agreements were signed?

The Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement for the commercialization of LPG in populations of Peru, by which a project will be implemented to commercialize this fuel that will contribute to the supply of the south and will benefit the population with more accessible and competitive prices.

Regarding mining, the Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement for the exchange of experiences and institutional strengthening was signed with the Minister of Mining and Metallurgy of Bolivia, Ramiro Villavicencio.

In this way, the commitment of both countries is established to promote this activity under international standards of safety, environment and hygiene, as well as to strengthen the process of mining formalization, the traceability of the gold supply chain, among others.

Finally, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) undertook to accompany the process that the companies have been developing Electropuno and Delapaz, from Bolivia, with the purpose of bringing electricity service to the towns of the border towns.
