The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) planned to formalize more than 11,000 miners nationwide by the end of this year, in order to promote the development of the sector.
The General Directorate of Mining Formalization (DGFM) indicated that, until April of this year, it has formalized 10,600 new owners dedicated to exploitation or benefit, registered in the Integral Registry of Mining Formalization (Reinfo).
To speed up the formalization process, the DGFM pointed out that a new single window system has been implemented that facilitates the digital and virtual presentation of the requirements that miners in the process of formalization must certify, which has an impact on improving the evaluation in charge. of the regional authorities.

He added that through the Semi-Annual Production Declaration (DPS) platform of the Minem extranet, it has allowed miners in the formalization process to comply with the virtual presentation of said document by December 31, 2021.
It should be noted that the Reinfo is a registry administered by the Minem, which groups together all the companies and businesses that are dedicated to the exploitation or benefit in the segment of small-scale mining and artisanal mining.
Therefore, it formalizes the businesses dedicated to the two aforementioned mining segments, in order to combat illegal mining, providing economic development opportunities to these companies and preserving the environment in protected natural areas.
