The Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Luis Montero, stated that he had begun coordination with Transportadora de Gas del Perú (TGP) to bring the gas to the south, thereby raising hopes that the population of this area can access a source of more economical energy.
As recalled, TGP had presented the TGP Extension Sur project to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), which aims to bring natural gas to Arequipa and Moquegua, through the construction of a 923-kilometer gas pipeline, which will mean private investment. of US$2,000 million.
The head of Minem also pointed out that the Government is evaluating incorporating Cusco into this project in order to benefit more potential users of the service.
At another time, Montero revealed that they are in talks with representatives of the Cálidda company to carry out the project that aims to bring gas to the seven poorest regions of Peru, which are located in the center and south of the country. .
“The massification of gas in southern Peru has a pipeline on the coast, from Lima to Moquegua, and a pipeline from Melchorita to the seven poorest regions,”
he added.
