Minem approves renewable energy projects for more than US$ 3,850 million

The (Minem) reported this Tuesday that it approved renewable energy projects with investment that exceeds US$ 3,850 million for nine photovoltaic plants and four wind plants, in addition to other electrical works (transmission lines, substations and rural electrical systems).

He indicated that these approvals were made within the framework of promoting the sustainable development of activities in the electricity subsector.

The General Directorate of Environmental Affairs of Electricity (DGAAE), specified that these environmental studies include modifications or associated supporting technical reports, and were approved between July 28, 2021 and May 5 of this year.

The photovoltaic plants include: CFV Sunny 204 MW (Arequipa), CFV Coropuna 253 MW (Arequipa), CFV Solimana 250 MW (Arequipa), CFV Matarani 80 MW (Arequipa), CFV Santa Isabel Solar 200 MW (Tacna), CFV Hanaq Pampa 340 MW (Moquegua), CFV Illari 424 MW (Arequipa), CFV La Joya 252 MW (Arequipa); and CFV Rubí 144.5 MW (Moquegua).

In addition, the studies of the wind power plants were approved: CE Punta Lomitas 260 MW (Ica), CE Mórrope 150 MW (Lambayeque), CE Guarango 372 MW (Ica); and CE Muyu 217 MW (Ica – Arequipa).

The DGAAE also indicated that it approved 22 Detailed Environmental Plans (PAD) linked to electrical projects whose operating costs exceed US$ 18.5 million per year.

The approval of these studies will favor the development of clean energy generation, as well as the assurance of the electrical system or the electrification of localities in our country.”, referred the Minem.

It should be noted that Peru has specific laws on renewable energy and the national government encourages its development. The Minem indicated that within the National Energy Plan 2014-2025, it seeks to double the production of renewable energy in this period.
