Mined intimidates Catholic school teachers and accuses the Church of wanting to “steal” their salary

The head of the departmental delegation of the Ministry of Education (Mined) in Managua, Sergio Market, held a meeting with the teachers of the subsidized parochial schools of the capital. During that meeting, apart from handing over the teachers’ salaries due to the blocking of the bank accounts of the Catholic Church, Mercado intimidated and promoted political proselytism when affirming that this payment was possible “thanks to the good government” of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, revealed the researcher Martha Patricia Molina.

Since yesterday, June 7, the Mined has been paying the respective salaries of Catholic school teachers, who have been gathered in different educational centers according to the district to which each subsidized school belongs.

A source from the educational community revealed to lawyer Molina that the teachers from the Catholic schools in District III were gathered at the Miguel Cervantes Institute.

The departmental delegate of the Mined in Managua appeared at the educational center “with a suitcase full of cash and payroll in hand. She asked all the teachers to show their ID and told them that from now on they were going to pay directly,” Molina explained on her Twitter account.

“They were not paid by check as usual and he reminded them that this payment was thanks to the good government” of Daniel Ortega, he added.

The researcher also reported that the government official accused the priests of being “stealing grant money” and that they “profited from the transfers” and did not give the educational personnel “the full salary.”

For its part, the source from the educational community told Molina that teachers received the same salary and then, “they cannot explain what the robbery of the priests was.”

The authorities of the Archdiocesan Ministry, through a letter, informed the directors of the Catholic schools that the Intendance of Private Centers of the Mined would be in charge of paying the respective salaries of the teachers. In the letter, the religious entity stressed that the salary supplement for teachers “will be assumed with the collection of monthly payments, because the accounts are still frozen” due to the investigation process.

Faced with the intimidating attitude of the Mined delegate, a priest consulted by Article 66 He pointed out that “we already know how the Ortega Murillo administration acts.” “It is already something normal, unfortunately we see it as normal, because it is their behavior, their way of acting, it is a common pattern that exists. I am not surprised that there is some kind of threat to them (teachers)”, he pointed out.
