This Wednesday, August 10, the Ministers of Mines, Irene Velez, and environment, Susanna Muhammad, they filed a bill which is intended to the development of ‘fracking’ is prohibited in the country.
(See: The 7 projects that could request an environmental license for ‘fracking’).
This was a proposal that had already been discussed in the campaign and that Muhamad had said that he would pursue this once he took office.
Among the arguments that have been presented for the use of this technique to be prohibited is that it generates environmental impacts in territories that may have a productive vocation.
(See: Council of State leaves safe rules that allow ‘fracking’).
In the country, it should be remembered, there are two pilot research projects: Kale and Platero. The first of them already has an environmental license, with which it could start operating.
Additionally, the Council of State left standing the rules that would allow the development of this technique in the country and for which there are already companies that have contracts that could develop them if they obtain the required permits, such as the environmental license.
