The Ministry for the Penitentiary Service initiated an approach at the Monagas Penitentiary Center, located in La Pica, Maturín sector.
The information was provided by the Minister for the Penitentiary Service, Mirelys Contreras, through her twitter account.
“Comprehensive Care Day begins at the Monagas Penitentiary Center (La Pica), with the participation of more than 150 public servants,” said Contreras.
The aforementioned prison facility houses approximately 2,400 inmates, of which 2,000 already have a sentence imposed and the rest await trial, according to unofficial data.
Last Monday a brawl occurred in the La Pica prison, with a balance of six inmates injured and two killed by firearms. Apparently the followers of alias Yeferson and Pedro Rapidito clashed. The first is a subject who is not registered as deprived of liberty but has a criminal gang in that prison that charges prisoners for vaccines, according to investigations.
