The scandal over the millionaire purchases to furnish the houses of the Colombian Presidency continues, Petro went out to explain and the former director of Dapre replied, “with Duque, 82-inch televisions were not bought.”
Colombia News.
More than cost overruns, which would not have occurred and until now no control entity has confirmed, the criticism of the government of Gustavo Petro; partly because of many of his followers, it is because of the millionaire spending on items such as televisions of up to 27 million pesos, expensive sheets and other items for the Casa de Nariño, the Vice Presidency, Illustrious Guests and others that the Presidency of Colombia has .
Senator Gustavo Bolívar had defended the national president, even insinuating that the purchases were made without his consent.
He argued that he was very busy attending to his presidential agenda and therefore, he would not even know about those expenses.
However, the president himself came out to defend the purchase made.
These furniture and household items were acquired through contracts made by DAPRE, directed by Mauricio Lizcano.
They are $173 million spent to furnish the private homes of the Presidencywhere Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez reside, in addition to the houses where guests are received.
These guests are normally visits from international delegations, State and government affairs, dignitaries, representatives of other countries.
The expenses were to buy from beds to televisions of 23 million pesos.
They even left “broken curtains”
President Petro has indicated that the purchases were made in part, because these elements were necessary since the previous presidency did not leave furniture and even the curtains were torn.
In addition, part of what is proposed to furnish, are the spaces for employees of the Presidency and Vice Presidency of Colombia.
“Did you know that the purchase of bedspreads, blankets and sheets had as one of its purposes that the people of the service have the same comforts as the guests in the Palacio de Nariño?”, wrote the president.
He assured that, “what we found was absolute discrimination against their food and their rooms.”
He also indicated that “of the 35 rooms that are part of the guest house in Cartagena, Hatogrande, the house of the Vice Presidency and the House of Nariño, France only occupies one room and I occupy two.”
“Did you know that carefully reviewed purchase by purchase, no item purchased presented cost overruns?” he wrote.
And he indicated that “from the rooms of the people who attend the services of the houses, they have (now) the same bedspreads and sheets as my daughter’s room.”

The curtains and almonds by Juan Manuel Santos; Iván Duque’s barbecue to the millionaire investment to furnish the private houses of the Presidency and Vice Presidency of Colombia, which Petro and Francia Márquez now occupy while they are in office, are the controversies from which none of the last three have escaped presidents the country has had.
The authorized purchase
The Casa de Nariño justified the purchases, pointing out that it is a duty to do so, these purchases were made in two contracts, one for $93,084,400 and the other for almost $80,000 million.
- An 85-inch television for $27,499,900, a digital blender for $1,846,000, a glass-ceramic cooktop for $7 million, some of the items purchased new.
There are four state and guest houses, for a total of 34 rooms.
And the Presidency reiterated: “After a request from the head of Houses evidencing urgent needs for their proper functioning (they were received without sheets, without curtains or without mattresses), the administrative direction of Dapre made the decision to acquire these products at through the platform Colombia Compra Eficiente”.
“Everything was fine”
The former director of Dapre, Víctor Muñoz, assured that the government of former President Iván Duque left “everything inventoried and in good condition.”
“In all governments the mattresses are changed. The curtains of private houses are there and what was done was to send them to be washed. The sheets from private houses are there, you can check the inventories in the administrative area,” said Muñoz.
In addition, he pointed out that in Duque’s administration “82-inch televisions were not bought for private homes because they are not part of the presidential administration.”
And he added: “The goose downs are new and obey the request of the new administration.”
