We millennials are the generation of the fusion between the traditional and the modern, we are the values of our parents and the modernity of our brothers, we are the promoters of change in the profession, of the empowerment of women, of gender equality, of diversity and inclusion in the legal industry.
Within this industry, we have come across stereotypes, traditional, family, masculine schemes and configured molds, where being different and respecting your essence was not an option.
Now, this generation has realized that it has a voice and that it can break the glass by eliminating gaps, biases and stereotypes, we are a generation of women who have come to humanize law, through our passion, essence and even turning it into a “Superpower”. ”. The advantage of finding a superpower makes you unique and unstoppable and a “powerpuff girl” in legal and tax advice for large companies.
The humanization of Law consists in recognizing the essence and human experience in order not to impose molds or stereotypes, since the lawyers and executives of the 21st century are not configured to fit in, we want to respond to our essence and shine respecting our authenticity.
“Taxes are my superpower” is a phrase that defines me and represents the breaking of all gaps, because we millennials came to that. It is my expression of the humanization of tax law. Through this practice, which I consider my passion, I have generated the confidence to empower myself and become a 2 Meter Lawyer who breaks stereotypes, gaps and her own limits and who also promotes the empowerment of women, gender equity, diversity and inclusion in this profession through different movements such as “Women in Tax” which is an initiative that promotes the empowerment of women through tax practice, which has been promoted and sponsored by PPO Abogados and I have developed together with my colleagues and my mentor Pablo Ordoñez, leader of the Tax Team of the firm in which I am a Senior Associate and which I consider to be the place of opportunity.
In addition, I am also part of the Iguales community, which is committed to gender equality in the company and is led by Patricia Hurtado. Additionally, I am also involved in promoting diversity, inclusion and the empowerment of women in the legal world through a Latin American movement called “Latina Lawyers” which I execute hand in hand with an excellent Mexican lawyer Alix Trimmer, partner of the firm Ferran Martínez and recognized as one of the 41 + 1 LGTB business leaders in Mexico by Expansión magazine.
In general, the practice of law and, specifically, tax practice, demands diverse profiles in terms of thinking, with different points of view and that add value. A good tax expert needs to know their clients’ business models perfectly, they need to have technical skills such as They are financial, accounting, legal, analysis and also develop soft communication and leadership skills to develop impact teams.
