Santo Domingo.- The Armed Forces and the National Police held the traditional parade in commemoration of the 179th Anniversary of National Independence where they exhibited the professionalism, skills and preparation of the soldiers of the military corps and the National Police.
It was carried out on George Washington Avenue, in the section from the Floating Bridge on the Ozama River, ending at Máximo Gómez Avenue.
The parade had not been held for three years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The act began at 4:36 in the afternoon when President Luis Abinader Corona arrived at the presidential dais and Colonel Julio Ernesto Florián Félix, Army, appeared to request authorization to start the event.

The head of state was received by the vice president, Raquel Peña, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa and the general commanders of the other military institutions and the director of the National Police.
The parade was attended by a delegation of cadets from the Mexican Armed Forces, representations of the Special Forces, the Specialized Corps, Dominican Civil Defense, Blood Bank and Blood Products of the Armed Forces.
The representation of the Lince squad of the National Police was notorious, which performed various motorized skills in front of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader Corona, who managed to get the auditorium to its feet with applause.
The parade was broadcast through the social networks and digital media of the Presidency and the Ministry of Defense (MIDE) @MdefensaRD, as well as on Channel 4 of the State and the Cultural Radio Station La Voz de las FF. AA. @hifa106.
While the parade was taking place along George Washington Avenue, a flotilla of Navy ships moved through the Caribbean Sea and Air Force planes and helicopters flew over the area with fireworks throughout the event.
It was notorious a rescue carried out by members of the Air Force by jumping from a helicopter simulating assistance to a vessel on fire at sea.
From the early hours of the afternoon hundreds of people attended George Washington Avenue to witness the parade and this time there was no rain. At exactly 7:10 p.m., Army Colonel Florián Félix returned and appeared before the President of the Republic requesting authorization to conclude the act without incident.
