Santo Domingo.– The president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado, stated that the most recent accountability of President Luis Abinader It was nothing more than confirmation of failure of a management marked by improvisation, inability and indolence in the face of the real problems of the Dominican people.
“The country has received with disappointment, but without surprise, the response of a speech full of half-truths, repeated unfulfilled promises and irresponsible illusionism,” said Vargas, when establishing the official position of the PRD.
The opposition leader maintained that the president once again presented a panorama disconnected from the reality that millions of people live. dominicans, affected by the deterioration of public services, the high cost of life, the fall of the public investment, the waste of resources, the growth of corruption and an alarming institutional weakening.
Electrical crisis: six years of excuses
Vargas pointed out that the electrical sector It is one of the greatest symbols of government failure. He recalled that in just six months the country has suffered three high-impact events: the departure of Unit 2 from Punta Catalina, a general blackout last year and a recent major outage that once again hit homes and businesses.
He indicated that, far from being strengthened, the system is today more expensive and unstable: losses increase, the electric bill, The subsidy grows and the promise of greater generation and efficiency is not fulfilled. “What was promised as a definitive solution today is synonymous with fragility,” he warned.
The PRD president also questioned the constant repetition of announcements about projects such as the monorail and the expansion of the Metro, works that accumulate delays, questions and cost overruns.
In his opinion, the Government has replaced planning by propaganda, while entire communities continue waiting for concrete solutions in infrastructure, drinking water, local roads and basic services.
The cost of living suffocates families
Vargas affirmed that the presidential speech ignored the drama of the high cost of food and essential goods. “Food is more expensive, salaries yield less and the Government does not present structural measures to protect purchasing power,” he noted.
In terms of security, he maintained that the same promises are repeated every year while crime and micro-trafficking continue to affect neighborhoods and communities, generating fear and uncertainty.
Corruption and debt without control
The PRD leader warned that the questions in public institutions, such as the case of SENASA, have eroded the moral authority of the Government to talk about transparency.
Likewise, he denounced a growing debt that compromises the future of the country. “The State becomes more indebted, but it is not translates into well-being nor in sustainable development,” he stated.
The PRD: firm opposition and real alternative
Miguel Vargas He reiterated that the PRD will maintain a firm opposition, without complacency, and will continue to propose concrete solutions: reorganization of public spending, institutional strengthening, effective transparency, rescue of the selectrical systempromotion of national production and a comprehensive citizen security plan.
“The country does not need more disguised speeches. It needs results. And the PRD is prepared to lead a serious alternative, responsible and capable of getting back on trackstability and hope to the Dominican Republic,” he concluded.
