SANTO DOMINGO. – Miguel Surun Hernández, lawyer for the family of the newborn abducted on January 21 from the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternity, denounced that sectors within the Ministry of Public Health are immersed in a campaign of slander and discredit in their against, using union leaders, such as the nurses.
He said that the campaign not only has the purpose of evading the responsibility of the health authorities for the terrible conditions in which hospitals operate in health services and security matters.
In this sense, the union member also called on anyone to present a video, document or voice note, where they accuse nurses or doctors of being part of a criminal gang dedicated to the trafficking of minors.
“We are aware of the precarious conditions in which health professionals carry out their work, who deserve greater support from the Government, so what is expressed by certain union leaders linked to the official party is a vile lie,” Surun Hernández said. .
He also recalled that the director of the National Health Service himself revealed that there was negligence in the security of the hospital where the theft of the minor was perpetrated, which confirms his complaint and the clamor of the family to deepen the investigation to confirm if there was complicity and determine the possible culprits.
“It is what we have always requested, that responsibilities be determined, since there is no possible way to explain that a person with supposed mental problems, without any knowledge of medicine, circumvents the security of a hospital, and worse, uses a doctor’s badge to avoid be reviewed, knowing that there is a prohibition to review the doctors of the health center” pointed out the jurist.
He stated that for more than 15 years he has selflessly assisted people with limited economic resources through his community office “Casa Jurídica del Pueblo”, located on the second level of Avenida San Vicente de Paul No.125 in Los Mina, from the Únete movement and from the people who go to the media where she participates.
He regretted that unscrupulous people try to take a political edge from the pain of a family, affecting the only one who came to their aid through lies.
“We were quite clear in establishing that both the video leaked by the authorities, as well as the characteristics of the lady presented as the only material author did not fit into the complexity of the crime, so it looked like a montage, since there is no way to explain that a person with apparent mental problems, she will have the ability to circumvent hospital security by wearing the uniform of the health center staff and the badge that identified her as a doctor so that her lumps are not checked, and all to have a child, despite already have three,” he said.
