Miguel Pupo was better than Ítalo Ferreira in the Brazilian duel in the round of 16 of the first stage of the 2022 World Surfing Tour, which is held in Pipeline (Hawaii).
The paulista was not intimidated in facing the current Olympic champion and won by 12.40 to 8.73 points to advance to the quarterfinals, where he will face the Peruvian Lucca Mesinas.
The quarterfinals will also feature a Brazilian duel in the quarterfinals, which guarantees at least one representative of Brazil in the semifinals. Newcomer Samuel Pupo, 21, will face Caio Ibelli.
Welcome to the Championship Tour, Samuel Pupo.
