The journalist and once again a political prisoner Miguel Mora-Barberena he received a visit from his relatives on December 24, at the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, known as “El Nuevo Chipote”, in Managua.

Demand for release persists

He stressed that at Christmas parties what all the relatives of the more than 230 political prisoners demand is immediate release. «I keep hoping that in this year that has not yet ended I can the Nicaraguan government—deliver our relatives to their homes. He also explained that Mora thanks “the” Nicaraguans who pray for him, because he knows that there are many people bending their knees and praying for political prisoners, for peace in Nicaragua, for reconciliation, love. Miguel sends to say that we do not stop praying, to believe God, that above all things God is the one who has kept them and has them firm and resisting.

After the visit, the officers of “El Nuevo Chipote” reminded the journalist’s relatives that on Saturday, December 31 and January 1, there will be another family visit for all political hostages. “We hope that Miguel will be released that day, that would be the best dream come true. In the name of God we continue to pray for that,” Chávez stressed.

This was the third time that Miguelito Mora was able to see his father —the first was on August 20— after the Nicaraguan dictatorship denied him the right for more than a year in captivity.

Mora Barberena has been imprisoned in “El Nuevo Chipote” since June 20, 2021, in the framework of the Nicaraguan presidential elections. The former candidate for the Presidency was sentenced by the judge of the Second Criminal Trial District of Managua, Nadia Camila Tardencilla to 13 years in prison, allegedly for conspiring “to undermine national integrity.”

The journalist was subjected to attacks, cyber harassment by supporters of the regime, and the equipment, frequency, and facilities of the 100% Noticias Channel were confiscated. Since the end of 2018, he was imprisoned for the first time for six months in the Jorge Navarro National Penitentiary System, in Tipitapa, and was released on June 11, 2019, under the controversial Amnesty Law.
