The daughter of sports journalist Miguel Mendoza continues to demand to see her father, with whom she has been incommunicado for 456 days since her incarceration in the cells of the Judicial Assistance Directorate in Managua. The slightest demand she be able to see or communicate with the political prisoner of the regime.
«Today marks 456 days that Alejandra does not see, nor does she hug her father Miguel Mendoza. We have shared on different occasions the emotional damage that this forced separation has caused in her. It is really cruel and inhumane that they torture an 8-year-old girl in this way, “says Mendoza’s family, through their social networks, along with a drawing of the minor where she expresses how much she loves and misses her father.

Mendoza is one of the political prisoners denied the right to see and communicate with his daughter by the Ortega-Murillo regime. The relatives of the prisoner of conscience have requested in different ways that the slightest communication between Miguel and his daughter be authorized, however, the Ortega administration has denied this demand.
The journalist was arrested at his home on June 21, 2021. The regime imprisoned the sports writer for allegedly “conspiring to undermine national integrity” and “spreading false news.” He was sentenced to nine years in prison. In addition, he was disqualified from holding public office.
The first and only time that the Ortega regime showed Miguel Mendoza, the journalist looked thin, emaciated, like the other 26 political prisoners locked up in “El Nuevo Chipote”, however he always kept his head held high.

During these 14 months in prison, the journalist’s defense attorney has filed 11 appeals before the Managua Court of Appeals and none have been answered.
Margin Pozo, life partner of the communicator, maintains that she will continue to fight so that her daughter can see her father again and have contact with him because she affirms that this separation has caused “psychological damage” to the minor. “It is a right that she has been denied,” says the journalist’s wife.
