Brazilian Miguel Hidalgo secured, in the early hours of this Sunday (19), runner-up in the triathlon World Championship. The feat was achieved after the 25-year-old from São Paulo finished the final stage of the World Tour of the sport, held in Wollongong (Australia), in fourth place.

“I’m very happy with the runner-up, this was the first year really fighting for the title and, in the coming years, there will be no shortage of new opportunities. I’m proud of what I did and I want to thank everyone who woke up at three in the morning to watch me”, declared Hidalgo shortly after the race.
Hidalgo’s 2025 season on the World Tour was marked by consistency of results: victory in Alghero (Italy), silver in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic), bronze in Yokohama (Japan) and the French Riviera, fourth place in Hamburg (Germany) and in the Finals in Wollongong, in addition to tenth place in the inaugural stage, in Abu Dhabi (Emirates). In this way, the Brazilian scored 3,769.95 points, between the 4,250.00 of Australian Matthew Hauser (World Cup champion) and the 3,690.12 of Portuguese Vasco Vilaça Vilaça (third place).
