Miguel Escobar, idol of Deportivo Cali in the 70s, died

Miguel Antonio Escobar Montalvo born on April 18, 1945. His sports career began in 1965 when he wore the jersey of the Sports Pereira; however, the greatest successes of his career would come at the hands of Deportivo Cali.

Escobar arrived at the Verdiblanco team in 1967 and with him won four Colombian championship titles (1967, 1969, 1970 and 1974). In addition, he formed a defense duo with Henry “The Fly” Caicedowho passed away earlier this year.

After his successful career with Cali, left the team in 1980 to finish his sports career in Santa Fe one year later. In addition, integrated the roster of the Colombian National Team who was runner-up in the America’s Cup in 1975.
