Santo Domingo.— In a wide joint operation carried out yesterday, LTo General Directorate of Migration (DGM), in coordination with the Security Forces and other State agencies, it arrested 1,089 Haitian nationals in irregular immigration situation and deported 1,375 people for the same cause.
The actions, deployed in different parts of the country, included arrests at: Santiago (109), Gran Santo Domingo (91), Jimaní (68), Mao/Santiago Rodríguez (65), Elías Piña (52), Pedernales (49) and Montecristi and the East Zone (42 in each). In addition, other apprehensions made by the armed and police forces were recorded: 344 captures by the Army, 87 by the National Police and 49 by the Border Security Specialized Corps (Cesfront).
Deportations were made by the main border doors and were distributed as follows:
• Dajabón: 379 deported.
• Elías Piña: 284 deported.
• Jimaní: 618 deported.
• Pedernales: 94 deported.
The DGM reported that the operations had the collaboration of the Ministry of Defense, the Navy, the Air Force, Cuitran and Digesett. During the interventions, documents verification protocols, consultations to migratory databases and coordination with the judicial authorities were applied when necessary.
The institution said that each procedure was executed respecting human rights and with emphasis on the dignity of people, “guaranteeing due protection and due process in each case.” He also stressed his operational capacity to carry out high impact actions “with efficiency, transparency and attachment to current regulations.”
