AREQUIPA, Peru – Panama’s National Migration Service reported Monday on the decline in the migratory flow in the Darien jungle, one of the routes also used by Cubans in recent years when leaving the island.

“Most of the migrants are from Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia and China,” the publication notes.

According to the entity, the July figure represents the lowest entry recorded in the first nine months of fiscal year 2024, which began in October 2023. In that period, 15,645 Cubans were registered, 2,000 fewer than in June, when 17,563 citizens of the Island arrived in the country.
