His meeting with AMLO
In June 2021, Kamala Harris was welcomed at the National Palace. The Vice President of the United States entered through the Mariana Gate and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador led her to the central courtyard.
In the hall, with Mexican and American flags, both leaders signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation for Development, which implies international cooperation to prevent forced migration and generate development in Mexico and Central America.
Meeting between President López Obrador and Vice President Kamala Harris concluded. The economy and high-level dialogue, security cooperation, and development in southern Mexico and Central America were discussed. It was a very successful meeting!!

During that meeting, President López Obrador offered him a tour of the murals of the National Palace and showed him the Treasury Room, where he holds his press conferences from Monday to Friday.
In July 2022, Harris welcomed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during his visit to the United States.
“It is a great honor to welcome you into my home. My time in Mexico was very special to me, we spent time looking at art, talking about culture and, of course, talking about the relationship between our nations,” Harris said.
López Obrador called Harris “his friend” and described her as a woman with “principles, intelligent, honest, and a supporter of equality.”
Kamala Harris and her congratulations to Sheinbaum
Hours after winning the presidential election, Kamala Harris congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum and expressed her desire to work with the administration of the first woman to reach the Federal Executive Branch.
“Congratulations to Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum on her historic victory. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the U.S.-Mexico partnership, from economic growth and national security to addressing the root causes of migration,” Harris wrote on her social media.
Days later, the vice president called Sheinbaum to congratulate her and share her joy at being one of the first women to become president and vice president.

Harris has also addressed arms trafficking, an issue of concern to Mexico, given that 70% of intentional homicides in the country involve firearms.
