Santo Domingo. Interdiction teams of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) yesterday arrested 1,129 Haitians undocumented in operations deployed in different provinces of the country.
At the same time, 838 Haitians were deported in an irregular situation, who were transferred to the border line and delivered to the authorities of their country of origin.
Of the total apprehended by the DGM, 128 corresponded to the great Santo Domingo; 65, Santiago de los Caballeros; 76, from La Vega; 169, to the east region; 13, of Azua; 58, Barahona; 17, Puerto Plata; and 35, from Montecristi.
To these figures are added 442 detainees for cash of the Army of the Dominican Republic, 105 by the specialized border security body and 21 by the National Police. All these institutions, together with the Navy, the Air Force, Ciutran, the Public Prosecutor and Digesett, worked in coordination with the DGM.
The repatriations were made by the binational doors of Elías Piña (521 deportees), Dajabón (181), Jimaní (85) and Pedernales (51). Foreigners entered the retention centers of Haina, Benerito, Santiago and the border points, where biometric data and fingerprints were taken before their return.
These actions respond to the instructions of President Luis Abinader to reinforce migratory control, in order to mitigate the risks that irregular immigration represents for the stability and well -being of the Dominican population.
The DGM reiterates its commitment to always act in respect for human rights and dignity of people, in accordance with national legislation and international norms signed by the Dominican Republic.
