Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration repatriated 23,545 thousand illegal aliens, mostly Haitians during interdiction operations that are carried out continuously throughout the country.
The institution specified that through the actions carried out in the provinces of Azua, San Juan, Barahona, Pedernales, Dajabon and Elías Piña, dozens of foreigners in irregular migratory conditions have been detained, who, when seized, did not carry any type of documents that certifies you as a person in transit in the country.
Likewise, Migration reported through a press release that the operations have been carried out in Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Vega, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana and Bávaro-Punta Cana; also in Benerito and Los Pilones, in order to counteract the irregular migratory flow throughout the national geography.
The head of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, specified that these actions continue progressively and simultaneously throughout the country, in compliance with Law 285-04 that governs the matter, within the framework of the migration policies promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader.
He recalled that during immigration operations, a security protocol is implemented, preservation of the integrity of the person and respect for human rights, in addition to the procedure for transfer and conduction for subsequent deportation, under the strict supervision of an Immigration Interdiction Team.
The operations are rigorously supervised by Colonel Emiliano de los Santos, of the Dominican Republic Army, who is in charge of the Interdiction Department at the national level.
