DR. –The General Director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, reported that the Tenth National Census of Population and Housing is progressing successfully in Montecristi, where they have sufficient personnel and equipment to carry out the data collection work.
Alcántara stressed that there is a resounding receptivity and accompaniment to the National Statistics Office (ONE), by local authorities in the development of the census, as ordered by President Luis Abinader, and that the operation of electronic equipment and human personnel they operate at 95 percent, thus facilitating work in the area.
He assured that within the framework of the X National Census of Population and Housing 2022, they have visited the six municipalities and five municipal districts of the Montecristi province, among them, San Fernando, Cabecera municipality, Guayubín, Las Matas de Santacruz, Villa Vásquez, Pepillo Salcedo and Castañuela, where the enumerators implement the digital questionnaires for this measurement.
The official specified that “we started simultaneously at 8:00 am this Thursday, September 10, and until the next 23 of the current month, where a team supervised the different municipalities, the tablets have worked excellently, which has made it possible to speed up the work,” he noted.
Likewise, the governor of that demarcation Nelsy Cruz specified that they have deployed all the necessary logistics arranged by President Abinader, to make the national census successful.
Alcántara was appointed supervisor in charge of the census in that demarcation by President Luis Abinader for the province of Montecristi, where he was also accompanied by officials from the institution.
As a government commissioner in that province, Venancio Alcántara, explained that with the census he seeks to generate necessary statistics on the number of Dominicans who live in the national territory and data that he considered of vital importance for the design and execution of public policies aimed at improving the people’s quality of life.
