The general director of Migration (DGM), vice admiral Luis Rafael Lee BallesterARD, together with the directors of Intelligence and Immigration Control of the institution, held a meeting with consular officials of the Embassy of Haiti in the country, led by Ralph Giraldo Raphaelminister advisor.
At the meeting they talked about the protocols that govern the operations of interdiction and the processing of migrants in detention centers managed by the DGMto whom he assured that these procedures are executed in accordance with the General Migration Law 285-04 and its implementing regulations.
Lee Ballester He reiterated to the diplomats that the actions of the institution, its personnel and the military and police who support these tasks are carried out guaranteeing the I respect and the protection of human rights of immigrants in irregular status.
Likewise, he stated that the DGM is willing to maintain dialogue and the cooperation with the haitian authorities on the topics within their competence.
How are immigration controls and repatriations carried out in the Dominican Republic?
The director of Migration stressed the importance of Dominican Republic guarantee the effectiveness and transparency of the immigration controls established by national, bilateral and international regulations and agreements, in a context in which the country will close the year 2025 with the greatest number of deportations of its history, following the provisions of the National Security Council.
Lee Ballester reiterated that the DGM will continue to carry out operations interdiction in all the national territoryat different times, as part of a comprehensive strategy of immigration control.
He also reported that the processes of repatriation are carried out through the border crossings of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní and Pedernales, during the operating hours of the binational crossings, through the orderly delivery of immigrants in irregular status to the haitian authoritiesin charge of the Immigration Control staff of the DGM and in coordination with the military forces and security agencies of the Dominican State.
They accompanied Ralph Giraldo Raphael Dr. Hipólito Dolis, in charge of Legal and Immigration Affairs at the diplomatic headquarters; the Haitian consul general in Santiago de los Caballeros, Stephen Junior Cherefant; Consul Fito Zephieren and Vice Consul Marie Danielle Lundi.
