This Sunday morning, the Independent Party organized a vehicle caravan that began at the intersection of the boulevard and Artigas Boulevard, in Montevideo, concluding in the emblematic Varela Plaza. Leading this event were the main faces of the party, Pablo Mieres and Mónica Bottero, who, amidst chants and flags, transmitted a message of strength and hope to their followers.
Throughout the caravan, Pablo Mieres’ words resonated clearly. “There has to be continuity, with changes,” he stated, highlighting the importance of the imminent election day to define the parliamentary majority. For Mieres, the growth of the Independent Party is crucial in this political phase, suggesting that its strengthening could be decisive in shaping the country’s political future.
Mieres and his vision of the PI in the context of the coalition
The leader of the Independent Party ratified his support for the candidate that emerges from the coalition, ahead of the crucial second electoral round. “The best thing for the country and Uruguayans is that we can continue with a new government,” Mieres emphasized. This position reflects a strategic alignment with the objective of maintaining a clear alternative to the ruling party.
The mobilization crossed paths with another caravan organized by the National Party on the Montevideo promenade, turning the avenue into a hive of political enthusiasm. Mieres was quick to express the need to examine what institutional structure the coalition will assume, emphasizing the importance of post-electoral organization to ensure governability and coherence within the multiparty group.
In reference to the possibility of coordinating the party alliance, Mieres was flattered by Pedro Bordaberry’s suggestion. “I thank Bordaberry for his comment, it is something that flatters us,” Mieres commented to the media, suggesting the challenges and opportunities that this proposal entails. He also referred to the importance of addressing institutional issues within the coalition once the elections are over.
