The Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) designated Nadya Villavicencio Callelo as the new executive director of the Wasi Mikuna School Food Program, which replaced the extinct Qali Warma. The ministerial resolution that formalizes its appointment was published on Wednesday in the Official Gazette El Peruano.
Villavicencio will assume the leadership of this social initiative amid questions and complaints about the delivery of food in poor condition and alleged corruption that affected the previous program.
The new holder has experience in the public administration, since he previously served as an executive management advisor and head of the Communication and Image Unit of the Program Contigo, which grants non -contributory pensions to people with severe disabilities in poverty.
She was also an advisor to the Executive Directorate of Qali Warma, the Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program (Agro Rural) and the Sustainable Urban Transport Program (promotion).
Wasi Mikuna, which means “homemade food” in Quechua, was created in December last year, in the midst of a climate of tension for complaints against Qali Warma. The launch of the new program coincided with the opening of a fiscal investigation after cases of food poisoning in Puno and Cajamarca.
The new program seeks to guarantee adequate food for students from the initial level (from three years) to Secondary. It also incorporates management modalities with the active participation of parents, committees of the educational community, civil society, the private sector, non -governmental organizations and international cooperation.
It should be remembered that journalistic reports revealed at the time the presence of chicken canned fungi, the distribution of horse meat instead of beef, and other products in
Bad condition delivered by Qali Warma, which resulted in serious health problems for schoolchildren in rural areas.
