Mides reinforces support for popular pots and picnic areas with an investment of 67.5 million pesos

The Ministry of Social Development (Mides) will continue to support popular pots and picnic areas, through Uruguay Adelante, with 67.5 million pesos. In addition, INDA will reinforce assistance with 295,000 kilos of dry food in all the departments of the interior of Uruguay, said Minister Martín Lema, upon inaugurating a community care home that will house 18 children who live in Paso Carrasco, Canelones.

Lema announced that Mides, together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will maintain support through Uruguay Adelante, with the contribution of 67.5 million pesos in the metropolitan area for popular pots and picnic areas for four more months.

Likewise, the National Food Institute (INDA) will reinforce its services with 295,000 kilos of dry food in all the departments of the interior of Uruguay. The minister explained that this dependency will accompany the Winter Plan and that evaluations will be carried out on the prices of the products.

Mides will also increase the number of night stands for homeless people. Lema stated that 46% of those who attend there have never been to a shelter. He explained that this situation is due to the fact that the device offers more flexible conditions for coexistence.

Lema was present, on Friday afternoon, at the inauguration of a community care home that will serve children from 0 to 2 years of age from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. “In early childhood, there is the development of the country,” she said.

In addition, he recalled that the Parenting Bonus reaches 30,000 households that include children up to 4 years of age, in order to mitigate situations of social vulnerability. In the same sense, he indicated that the Mides continues with the support through the Socio-educational Inclusion Scholarships, to facilitate access to private care centers for those families that do not have free centers in their neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, the president of the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) stated that this institution is committed to the development of public policies focused especially on the most vulnerable children. Abdala indicated that in 2022 the number of child and family care centers (CAIF), Siempre centers or community care homes will be increased to 150.
