The Minister of Social Development, Martín Lema, toured 20 different locations in Colonia on Tuesday, where he led the inauguration of a 24-hour accommodation center for people with disabilities and two territorial offices of the organization. During the event, he also signed an agreement with the Colonia Tourist Association, through which job opportunities will be generated for participants of the Accesos program.
Lema was accompanied by the undersecretary of the portfolio, Andrea Brugman; the national director of Territorial Management, Alejandro Sciarra; the National Secretary for Care and Disability, Nicolás Scarela; Director of Disability, Karen Sass; the head of Mides in Colonia, Diana Olivera, and the departmental mayor, Carlos Moreira.
The agreement established with the Colonia Tourist Association (ATDC), which opened the departmental tour, is part of the Accesos socio-educational and labor program, of Mides, aimed at people in vulnerable situations who participated in other plans of the organization.
“The Accesos program seeks to promote the autonomy of people to strengthen their well-being,” Lema explained in his speech.
The Secretary of State maintained that the instrument allowed the participants to be ranked in terms of job opportunities, and explained that from 11,444 pesos of monthly remuneration per person, the value increased to 19,000. In addition, he added that there were training courses, health care, accompaniment and articulation between institutions so that people could take advantage of the protected work experience.
Subsequently, the authorities attended the opening of the 24-hour accommodation center for people with disabilities, located in the Granja Sabalera de Juan Lacaze. The center cares for 16 people, five of whom are women. In the place they carry out socio-educational and labor insertion tasks, as well as training for dairy and milking activities.
Around noon, a Mides office was inaugurated in the town of Juan Lacaze, located in an establishment ceded by the Municipality of Colonia. This office will depend on the one located in the city of Rosario, which was also inaugurated during the day.
In statements to the press, Lema highlighted the work of decentralization, the commitment, and the territorial integration of the work teams, while stressing the importance of providing tools and opportunities to promote greater autonomy for the participants of Mides programs. .
In addition, he affirmed that the new territorial offices will improve the response and privacy in the attention of the consultants, and the new accommodation center will seek a strong socio-educational proposal, which will include a protected work regime.
In another order, the hierarch informed that, in Colonia, 7,331 households receive family allowances, as well as 5,617 family nuclei have the benefit of the Mides-UTE Social Bonus, which allows them to obtain a bonus in the payment of the service. In addition, he explained that 650 households receive the Parenting Bonus.
