The Minister of Social Development, Martín Lema, announced that the Emergency Basket is extended until July “exclusively for those who currently receive the benefit and have dependent minor children.”

The decision is in line with the strategy of prioritizing support for early childhood.

The Secretary of State said that those who meet the established conditions will continue to receive the Emergency Basket benefit for another four months, without the need to carry out any paperwork.

He said that in the event that the health emergency ceases before July, the extension would not be affected.

The initiative was taken together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

MIDES reinforced the Uruguay Social Card and the Family Allowances-Equity Plan during 2020 and 2021. Additionally, in 2022 it established a structural measure, the Bono Crianza, which implies a support of 2,000 pesos per month, per minor, which reaches to the most vulnerable households made up of children from 0 to 3 years old and pregnant women, highlighted Lema.

He also highlighted the Electric Energy Social Bonus, an agreement between MIDES and UTE for more than 25,000 households with discounts of up to 90%, better access to electricity and accident prevention.
