MIDA reiterates commitment to zero tolerance for corruption

The Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), in its policy of zero tolerance for corruption, collaborates in all the investigations that are necessary to clarify any situation, in order to strengthen its commitment to continue working in a transparent and open manner before society. According to the head of MIDA Legal Counsel, Fernando Simmons, this institution has filed a total of 21 complaints and 2 complaints, in which private companies, public servants and producers are involved, for possible mismanagement to the detriment of this agricultural entity.

He stressed that with this action, MIDA reiterates its commitment to serve Panama, the producers and the Panamanian society, cooperating in a transparent manner in all investigations that involve this institution, thereby guaranteeing that its resources are used in a correct way to contribute to the country’s food security.

MIDA filed these complaints with the corresponding prosecutors, for the alleged commission of crimes against economic assets and public administration and as part of the zero corruption policy of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen and the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama.

These complaints were filed for alleged crimes against public faith, falsification of oath, falsification of documents or any criminal type resulting from investigations into possible mismanagement that have been detected.
