MIDA presents 10 new complaints under its policy of zero tolerance for corruption

Panama, Wednesday, April 12, 2023. A total of 10 new complaints, amounting to a total of B/.666,928.34, for the alleged commission of crimes against economic and public administration assets, the Ministry has presented of Agricultural Development (MIDA), led by Augusto Valderrama, before the corresponding prosecutors, as part of its policy of zero tolerance for corruption.

These complaints were filed by the MIDA Legal Advisory Office, due to possible mismanagement that has been detected in the fields of rice and certified seed, to the detriment of the agricultural entity, by producers, companies and public servants in the provinces of Veraguas and Los Santos.

The head of the agricultural portfolio has reiterated the commitment of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, to make a transparent and open Government, in which public servants are facilitators and responsible in the management of public funds.

The 10 new complaints filed, for alleged crimes against public faith, falsification of oath, falsification of documents or any criminal type resulting from the investigations, are added to 11 more that had already been filed during this administration under the policy of zero tolerances for corruption.

MIDA joined the commitment to transparency, one of the main points of the 4th. National Open Government Action Plan 2021-2023, prepared in collaboration with Civil Society, which was presented by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.
