Mida plans to sow more than 20,500 hectares of mechanized corn

A planting advance of 18,578 hectares (Ha), of mechanized corn, and a total of 20,538 programmed hectares is what the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) records in the weekly report on the planting of corn in Panama for the agricultural cycle 2022 – 2023.

The report highlights a participation of 764 producers and a percentage of progress of 90% according to projections.

The Mida highlighted that the provinces with the largest reported planting area are: Los Santos 15,783 Ha (99% progress reported); Herrera 2,036 Ha (71% progress reported); Chiriquí 505 Ha (36% progress reported); Coclé 148 Ha (108% progress reported); Veraguas 81 Ha (135% progress reported) and Darién 26 Ha (52% progress reported).

With regard to chuzo maize with technology, of a total of 4,352 Ha programmed, there is a planting advance of 2,397.98 hectares, with the participation of 1,449 producers and achieving an advance percentage of 55.09%.
