The passage Public transportation in the capital of Santa Cruz remains at Bs 2. This is stated by the Municipal Council, the body where any adjustment in the rate must be approved.

However, transporters point out that From this Monday they will charge Bs 2.37an amount established in the proposal of Mayor Jhonny Fernández and that achieved support from neighborhood leaders. In addition, they advance that they are preparing the presentation of a constitutional protection against the councilors for the Law that Declares the Change towards a New Integrated Public Transportation System a Municipal Public Necessity, recently approved.

“The Council has already spoken and approved an emergency law in which the mayor has to prioritize a change in the system because Santa Cruz de la Sierra deserves it. “He has to work on a proposal in the short and medium term”said the president of the Municipal Council, Silvana Mucarzel, describing the determination of the micreros as illegal. “What is being seen with the issue of Fejuve and the transport businessmen is illegal, because they are related to the mayor and are against the people of Santa Cruz, against modernity,” he added.

It states that the correct thing is for the Municipal Executive to carry out a cost study and present alternatives for new rates so that the Council can analyze them and determine any adjustment through an express rule.
“The issue of rates, for the Council, is a very specific topic within the framework of something more strategic. for the development of the city, which is the transformation of the Public Transportation System.
Convinced of this, we have approved the Law of Necessity for this change, which must be promulgated by the mayor within the corresponding deadlines. Meanwhile, the Council considers that the rate should not undergo any modification, since the provisions in force indicate that it is Bs 2.
The absolutely unpopular measure, assumed by two sectors without the right to do so, is defined outside of any norm and, of course, that has its legal and judicial implications,” he warned.

Mucarzel insisted that if the mayor were more proactive he would take as his banner the emergency bill that the Council approved. He believes that the mayor’s advisors have not explained the scope of the rule to him “Or he doesn’t want to look bad with his transportation friends,” he questioned.

The president of the Council states that political agreements cannot be allowed to try to impose a new rate of public transportation.

From the Council they point out that the Executive initiates price control actions and processes against those who made the decision that affects the economy and the pockets of the people and families of Santa Cruz.

They decided to set an increase

The transporters assure that together with the mayor and the Boards Neighbors have analyzed that the rate to be charged is Bs 2.37so they decided to apply it from this Monday.

The leader of the sector, Segundo Ricalde, reported that today they will hold a meeting with their bases, where they will present the signed agreements. “Bs. 2.37 is the fare, just as the mayor has said“, he highlighted by indicating that they are preparing constitutional protection against the Council for approving a law arbitrarily.

Ricalde said that they are also accepting the conditions of Fejuve, Social Control, older adults and people with disabilities.

“Tomorrow (today) we go out to charge Bs 2.37,” he insisted.

The transporters had planned to carry out a new strike starting this Monday, but they later rescinded the measure to agree to an increase and with the help of some neighborhood representatives.

“I am not a politician, I represent the Neighborhood Councils, the districts, and as such we are issuing a resolution, accepting the provisional rate of Bs 2.37, that Mayor Jhonny Fernández himself suggested,” Orlando Peña reported, after concluding Saturday’s meeting with the transporters.

For his part, the mayor ratified his proposal to increase the fare for seniors, between 2.18 and Bs 2.37, after two days of work at the technical tables with transporters and neighborhood organizations. Like the micro drivers, he also questioned the law approved by the Council, the same one that authorizes a new Transportation system.
