MICI presents two resolutions rejecting the legal resources of Minera Panamá

The Panamanian Government issued this Friday, December 30, two resolutions through which it rejected the legal resources presented by the firm Morgan & Morgan, on behalf of Minera Panama.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) highlighted that these resolutions constitute the steps to follow in the legal process to put the Cobre Panamá mine in a state of Care and Maintenance, since the contractual differences raised by the Government have not been resolved. , that reflect a fair agreement for the Panamanian people.

“It is important to highlight that, at the request of Minera Panama, the Government has participated, acting in good faith, in a series of meetings where Tristán Pascall, CEO of First Quantum, has been present,” said the MICI.

They indicated that throughout this process, the Government of Panama has been working together with international experts and Panamanian legal advisors to help firmly defend Panama’s rights over its natural resources.

They assured that the Government is prepared to face all potential legal scenarios that could arise and will continue to ensure that the labor rights of workers are maintained and protected.
