The entity revolutionizes microfinance by becoming the first Peruvian bank capable of opening accounts and disbursing loans immediately, 100% automated and secure without leaving WhatsApp and managed by artificial intelligence (AI). With this, it consolidates a financial ecosystem where credit is resolved in seconds from a chat conversation.
The Peruvian financial system has just crossed its most ambitious frontier. In a context where digitalization has ceased to be an option and has become the everyday language of business, Mibanco has marked a historic milestone by carrying out the first 100% automated and AI-managed disbursement in the country, through its official WhatsApp channel.
This advance goes beyond technological innovation. It is a direct response to the microfinance needs of the population who, according to recent data, already carry out an average of 1.7 daily electronic transactions per adult in Peru. In this scenario, Mibanco takes a decisive step by bringing access to credit to the same channel where microentrepreneurs communicate, sell and get paid.
With this innovation, the entity becomes the first national bank capable of closing the complete cycle—from account opening to loan disbursement—completely, securely and automatically within the most used messaging application in the world, without redirecting the customer to web pages, external forms or additional applications.
From chat to agentic AI
The path to this historic milestone for microfinance began in October 2025. What was born as a channel for inquiries and opening savings accounts has evolved thanks to the strategic integration of APIs (application programming interface) and AI.
Mibanco has developed its own agentic platform, capable of understanding the client’s context and executing decisions in real time, all within a conversation on WhatsApp. This architecture allows credit operations to be processed without human intervention, maintaining security, traceability and stability standards equivalent to those of traditional banking.
As Arturo Johnson, manager of Mibanco’s Transformation Division, maintains: “This first 100% automated disbursement by WhatsApp demonstrates that technology, well applied, can eliminate historical barriers and expand access to credit without losing closeness to the client and, most importantly, allows scalability with a human experience.”
One-click inclusion
This launch comes at a crucial time for Peru. Although 2026 is emerging as the year of digital maturity in the country, a significant inclusion gap still persists, as only a small percentage of the six million Peruvian MSEs—formal and informal—access financing from traditional banks.
Mibanco’s commitment to WhatsApp focuses directly on reducing this friction of access, allowing an entrepreneur in Gamarra or a farmer in the province to obtain liquidity in a matter of seconds, eliminating transfers and physical procedures.
By March 2026, the bank plans the massive launch of the channel, adding functionalities that will turn WhatsApp into a digital banking office.
With this important implementation, Mibanco not only reinforces its leadership in the microfinance segment, but also establishes a new standard for operational efficiency, interoperability and customer experience in the Peruvian financial system.
In a market where AI is beginning to consolidate itself as part of the money infrastructure, the Peruvian bank demonstrates that true innovation is not only in technology, but in bringing it to the closest, daily and culturally relevant channel for the client.
Thus, the bank of entrepreneurs confirms that the most powerful financial inclusion is that which occurs where the client already is: in a conversation.
